Why Male and Female Students Should Study Together

There are various institutions of learning whereby male and female students attend single-sex classes or schools. This is mostly attributed to the fact that certain stakeholders in education feel that male and female students should be educated using discordant instructing methods based on their gender. However, the ever-changing curriculums and redefinition of roles that male and female genders play in the society point towards more inclusive learning environments and co-educational learning institutions. Therefore, male and female students should study together because the two genders can learn how to socialize together, learn valuable information from each other and learn how to protect themselves.

There is a need for boys and girls to learn how to communicate with each other from childhood to adulthood. This is because upon completion of their education, they will join workforces that comprise of both male and female workers. Thus, boys and girls need to learn how to socialize and relate with each other from an early age so that they can be conversant with the sensitive issues affecting both genders and how to treat each other with veneration.

There is a concern among the public that letting male and female students study together results in distractions such as existing and prospective relationships between boys and girls that take up a significant portion of their time and attention. Nonetheless, male and female students stand to gain more valuable information from each other in the same learning environment than when in separate schools and classes. Boys and girls solve problems differently, with the latter often involving emotions in their issues and the former refraining from letting emotions get in their ways of doing things (Guledani, 1). As such, male and female students can learn from each other how to solve problems appropriately such as when to include emotions and when not to involve emotions.Why Male and Female Students Should Study Together

Gender-sensitive issues are mostly visible in learning environments that involve both male and female students unlike in single-sex schools where such issues are rare and problems are easy to fix. When boys and girls learn together, they learn how to protect themselves from toxic feminism and noxious male chauvinism. They also learn how to deal with and respond to sexually related issues better due to incessant sensitization instead of leaving them to curiosity as is often seen in single-sex schools (Lee, Valerie E. et al., 94).

In conclusion, male and female students do not need to study in separate classes and schools because when they study in mixed gender classes and schools, they will learn how to communicate better with each other and become more adapted to the society. They also learn different ways of dealing with gender-sensitive issues from their interaction and experience with the opposite gender.
