SUBJECT: PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATIONS COURSE
The Canada Revenue Authority intends to roll out a professional communications course. This is due the need of skilled employees who should be able to perform various core functions such as communicating through telephone and also face to face with clients, making oral presentations, producing crucial business documents such as memo’s emails, letters, reports and proposals. Despite the fact that most employees in Canada Revenue Authority possess accounting skills, very few of the employees are skilled in professional communication skills therefore necessitating the creation of a professional communications course to provide the necessary communication skills.
The Professional Communications Course will be administered in a six session course and will cover all the fundamental areas that the employees are supposed to be vast in. The course will be structured in the following way:
- Interactive Communication for the Floristry Workplace
In this session, the students will learn communication strategies, interpersonal communication theory, resume design, page design for specialized documents. Employees will also be taught how to analyse the audience and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. During this session, the employees will also learn about the fundamentals of business communication. The employees will learn about the relationship between the interactive relationship between the context, message audience and purpose in workplace writing. During this lesson, the employees will learn about business vocabulary and strategy and will therefore be able to understand the business environment better as a result of a keen understanding of these essential terminologies.
- Writing for the Specialized Workplace
During this session, the employees will learn about how to customize and tailor make messages for specific clients. The employees will also be trained on basic communication and research strategies. The employees will also learn about resume design and page design for specialized documents. The employees will also be trained in analytical skills to be able to contextualise their client’s needs.
- Applied Oral Communications
During this session, the students will learn about the principles and applications of oral communication. The employees will be able to use these skills when making oral presentations. The employees will be able to learn how develop and understanding of the communication culture. The students will also learn how to appreciate cultural diversity in the workplace to enable them to have a deeper understanding of interpersonal skills and how they ought to relate with other workers in the workplace. The students will also learn how to use their skills to marketing skills and how to develop and design creative marketing briefs. The employees will also be trained on how to draft business proposals, reports and oral pitch presentations.
- Digital Media Communication-subject: PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATIONS COURSE
This session will involve training on the principle and practices of traditional and emergent online digital platforms. A deep appreciation of technology will enable the employees to cope with the current trend and therefore the company will have a competitive advantage over the companies that do not employ the use of technology.
- Persuasive Writing and Speaking
In this session the employees will be trained on how to develop rhetorical strategies and techniques that deal with identifying the needs of audiences and their interests and how to use these strategies to generate the appropriate responses from the target audience. The students will also learn the principles of persuasion and also apply these principles to strategic conversations. These persuasive speaking skills will enable the employees to put their arguments across convincingly during oral presentations.
- Internal and External Communication
The employees will also be trained on the role of employees’ communications in organizations as well as motivational theories and the common principles and practices of effective internal organization communications. The employees will also be trained on common principles such as top-down, bottom-up, peer-to-peer and interdepartmental communications. The employees will also learn how to integrate internal communications plans and audits.
