JOURNAL OF MY JOURNEY TO BETTER HEALTH AND WEIGHT

I am a health enthusiast and I like to read a lot on exercise and food diet and portions to maintain my body weight and a healthy lifestyle free of lifestyle diseases such as obesity and high blood pressure. My daily life is a decision to be better than the previous day; the following is an excerpt of my journal.

Sunday

I always treat today as family day and this includes friends. I got my son to convince his friends to go riding in nearby woods that have bike trails. It was fun as the youngsters got to enjoy a good workout, fresh air and explore the woods at the back of their bikes. We also set up a picnic and sat down to a meal that we wolfed down on a serene picnic site in the woods. After the meal and rest, we set out back home.

Monday

After a day at school it was a time to hit the gym. I have a gym membership for the whole year but I don’t always keep the check in days. I however try to go as often as I can. At the gym, I got to walk the tread mill and lift a few weights. After getting home and resting a while I took water. My gym instructor told me it is safer to drink it after rest and not at one go.

Tuesday

It is my day of rest to have a break on the high intensity work out but I still took the stairs and walked instead of driving around. I went to the store later in the evening to get my weeks supply of fruits, vegetables as well as other groceries and walked home to prepare a balanced meal.

Today I had an early and busy day which means that I had to get my exercise earlier because I was not going to get gym time. So, I woke up at 5am and in my running gear took up two blocks from my apartment and was back in time to prepare for my busy day

Thursday

I went to the gym and I was lucky to get one on one with the gym instructor, who gave me tips on the body parts I needed to work on and the techniques that were most effective. I had lunch filled mostly with vegetables and a snack that was a fruit pudding at four o’clock.

Friday

This is an end of school days and so I get to sit to breakfast with my teenage son who is growing too fast and who prefers fast food and sugary snacks. Today I won the battle however and got him to eat an apple, whole bread and a glass of milk instead of the everyday cereal. He claims that I am getting old though and should not force him to eat old people’s food which is boring. I suspect that more difficult days await me, today was a small triumph.

Saturday

My son does not have school on this day and so as I cleared my day’s activities he played with his friends. I picked him up later and took a long stroll to our favorite restaurant. It is our cheat day so we have to fit a few useless calories in our diet as a reward for a week healthy lived. My son was over the moon. I took this chance to explain that eating his vegetables and fruits all week long it is all so that he leads a healthier life.
