## Description

**Effect of using Kahoot to prepare the Test**

The methods used for collecting data include explanatory and experimental study (quasi experimental). To collect the data, a teacher of Arabic history whose name is Alaa was involved. Twenty five female students were separated in two groups in the same topic of Arabic history. These two groups were categorized as group K to mean those using kahoot method and group T to mean those that did not use kahoot.

The data collected from group T is listed as shown in table 1.1

Data analysis is usually done during or after collection of the required data, when using observation as a means of collecting data, at this point one can simultaneously analyze their data. This happens in most qualitative studies where data collection and analysis are intertwined, thus having an influence on one another. For this case study data analysis shall be done through the following steps:

- Organization of data,
- Use of codes to summarize the data for instance in tables
- Interpretation of the coded data to search for patterns, relationships and themes. (James, 2012).

**Qualitative Data.Effect of using Kahoot to prepare the Test**

In the collection of qualitative data, an interview was conducted on seven students of each group and three questions for the teacher (McMillan, 2016).

The students were interviewed and the data was coded as follows:

*Coded interview transcript*

**Analysis-effect of using Kahoot to prepare the Test**

From the results, one can make conclusions for group T students, the teacher said that at times the class turn out is low, this could be an indication that most of the students do not enjoy these classes. In a case where student participation is low, is an indication that very few students understand what is being taught. On the other hand some students not being confident to disclose their performance is an indication of poor performance which they are not proud of.

Considering group K, the teachers responses are an indication that the method of teaching is working out well. Students are confident and enthusiastic of the classes, this is an indication that they are enjoying the classes. Some students can speak fluently, this means that they are learning quickly what is being taught and can remember for a long time (high retention ability).

**Quantitative Analysis**

Quantitatively analyzing the data in table 1.1 and table 1.2, the mean for the data categorized under group T is 5.33, meaning that most students were able to score an average of 5.33 out of 10. On the other hand for group K the mean is 8.77, this is a clear indication that most of the students in group K performed better than the students in group T. From these results one can deduce that the Kahoot method of teaching leads to better performance of students than the ordinary method. (2018)

The median of group T is 5 meaning that half of the class scored 5 marks and below, whereas for group K which had a median of 9 is an indication that up to half of the class were able to get 9 marks and below.

The mode of group T was 4 meaning that more students scored 4 marks compared to the other marks. On the other hand the mode of group K is 9, meaning that a larger number of students were able to score 9 marks as compared to the other marks. (the score of 9 was more frequent than the other scores.). most of the students performed well in group K.

The standard deviation for group T is 1.59 indicating that more students vary from the mean as compared to group K which has a standard deviation of 0.89, here a lesser number of students vary from the mean in terms of their scores.

**Inferential Data Analysis-effect of using Kahoot to prepare the Test**

The variance of data collected from group T is 2.51, this is an indication that most of the students did vary by 2.51 from the mean score of the class, this is a clear indication that more students were below average. For group K the variance is 0.79 meaning that very few students were below average. For group T more data is spread out from the mean. (“Statistical Variance”, 2018)

The data of the two groups was analyzed to obtain a correlation coefficient of -0.41, meaning that the two data sets had a significant disagreement. The two data sets have no relationship. (“Correlation Coefficient: Simple Definition, Formula, Easy Steps”, 2018)
