BALI: GOVERNED BY THREE WORLDS.

Bali is located in Indonesia and is highly linked to early civilization. Bali has been colonized before by groups that only looted the locals. The locals believe in three worlds; the gods, the living world for humans and the demons that torment them.

They are a people that use art (puppets, rock crafts, decorations) to bring out the three worlds. Their idea of time is not like ours, it follows cycles just like the natural cycle of life. They will work to appease their gods and destroy the demons to ensure their lives go on. Their entire life is organized around religion; they will control agriculture by use of temples, their main jobs such as puppet play, priesthood is all religion. Their use of temple rituals brings a balance in their lives. The old women dancing nearest to the graves show that the community is not afraid of death because they will eventually come back to the village reincarnated. Their belief in the manipulation of demons ensures they are at peace with the gods.

This is a community that has run with systems for decades and when they try to change it, somehow it goes wrong. They do not detest change rather believe that carried out too quickly is destructive and just like every aspect of their lives, it should follow a cycle. The community is truly unique, even with advancements in technology and infiltration of tourists from the outer world, Bali has stuck to tradition and they are thriving.
