Salvation

The song amazing grace by John Newton is related to the text “salvation” in different ways. They both have a similarity in that they are both focussing on salvation. The song clearly tells us that the singer had no knowledge or had not been a partaker of salvation at one time in his life; however he later on received the gift of salvation which is given by grace from the Lord Jesus Christ. The singer of the song “Amazing grace” indeed confesses to have received genuine salvation and is assured of having it forever (Library.timelesstruths.org, 2016). On the other hand the text “salvation” reveals that the writer had a desire/ longing to receive the gift of salvation but did not actually receive it. He yielded to peer pressure that was subjected to him and lied to have received salvation. Consequently he ended up not believing on the existence of Jesus. He ends up in regret, contrary to his counterpart, the singer of “amazing grace” who is contended. In conclusion, I chose this song because it has a story to tell about salvation.
